What is the best tackle and baits to use when beach fishing on the gold coast?

Live shrimp fished on the bottom. Rig is weight, swivel and then three foot leader and hook.

Live shrimp, and live mullet work very well. Also try cutting up a whiting or something and use it as cut bait. I would fish all of these baits on the bottom as well... Most of my surf fishing has been in TX, but I would think the techniques would be similar
