Im fishing off a beach in sarsota?

ill literaly be on sand. how strong should the string be and what kind of lures or hooks should i use?

I would recommend 20# test with a wire leader. fish on the bottom with live shrimp, and mullet. You can catch many different species. Surf fishing is a blast. Have fun

try using 12-17 lb test line

there are several lures that you can use, for different types of fish.
a suggestion would be, to stop in at Economy Tackle, on U.S. 41, in south Sarasota.

20 pound line, with a steel leader is correct. also, heavy weights are a must as the surf will bring your line into the shore in next time. Unless you are fishing for blues or sea trout stay away from lures, they are to hard to fish in the surf. a long rod is also a must. best baits are shrimp,cut up squid, shiners and even blood worms. surf fishing rocks, you can catch just about anything.
