Default What bait should I use in St.Pete Beach in mid July to early August fishing off the

beach? I will be in St. Pete Beach Florida from July 24th until August 6th and I am looking to fish off the beach that my hotel is located. I will be fishing in between 6-8 am, and 6-9 pm. Also, what am I most likely going to catch?

Drive up the beach just a bit to John's Pass. You can expect to catch anything there. Trout, snook, red fish, sheep head, jack. Also, don't neglect the inter-coastal waterway. Use shrimp, live minnows (a little more expensive), or fiddler crabs.

Man, wish I was going.

Shrimp's always good anywhere in Florida's salt and brackish water. Another good idea would be to stop into a bait shop and ask what's eating what where... maybe sandfleas will pay off better for you in the surf...
