...(110v)? so i got a fish tank filter from my aunt who bought the european model by accident and gave it to me. its a good filter and i want to use it at home but its a euro-plug. what do i need to get, to get the voltage converted (wall: 110v to device: 220v)?

Buy a step-up transformer (converts from 110V to 220 V). Search your local electrical supply stores or electronics shop.
While you're at it, inspect the plug of your filter and buy the appropriate plug adaptor if it will not fit on the receptacle of the transformer.

It's easy enough to buy a converter from 220v to 110v...Unfortunately, I think the easiest place to find this would be in Europe...so that leaves the best place to find it is on eBay! Just search for Europe current converters..
