This is a pond/lake fish. It can be over-wintered in an indoor tank but that's it, then it needs to go out to a pond. You can have them in a 3ft tank BARE minimum over winter - it would need a filter for at least double it's volume.

This is not a fish suitable for long-term living in an average home aquarium.

And they should hit around 1ft within the first year, the growth rate will then slow.

Two 4 inch mirrors (nice fish by the way) can be housed very happily in as small as 10 gallon, but not for long. Your mirror carp have the potential to grow rather large. While they can live in smaller accomodations for a while, they will in time need to be housed elsewhere.

I am not sure what size tank you are talking about here. Two 4" carp can be kept in a 20 gallon for apx 6 months
30 8-9 months
55 10-18 months

If you intend to keep them tanked for life you need to get a tank that is over 20" wide. You need a wider rather than taller tank to house these fish as adults. They need room to turn and swim, although I know people who have housed them in a 65 gallon and they are fine and full grown. Remember mirrors don't get as large as regular common carp (although the WORLD record is around 64 I think)

You need to feed your tanked carp 2-3 times per day including live bugs, worms as well as plant life such as lettuce, hair algae, duckweed etc.

mirrors are fairly hearty with not a lot of problems as far as health wise. Swimbladder if not kept on a proper diet.
