| | it took me 3 yrs to catch a carp from wraysbury.its all about location.use uncomplicated rigs and bait.go a little early.try and spot some carp.if you cant find any try and spot bream and tench.then try fishing there.better to fish where there is fish than no fish.ive caught carp in the river severn but you must find them first.if fishing a tidal stretch go there when tide is out look for snags etc.place youre bait and wait for tide to come in.it works trustb me.good luck.global carp angler of 20 yrs. |

| | Carp fishing is incredibly tricky especially if you are fishing for grass carp. those fish are stubborn sons' of b****** try bread balls, corn flake calls with vanilla extract flavoring and whole kernal corn...that always gets a carps attention. best of luck to you and keep experimenting with different baits. if possible bring 2-3 poles with you on 2-3 different baits. |

| | I think your problem may well be your location. If you are percifically after Carp the Thames isent the best place to catch them, although they are there but not in as large numbers as other types of fish. Your best bet is to go to a local fishery. I don't know where abouts on the Thames that you fish but if you are around Maidenhead/ Windsor way there are alot of good fisherys packed with carp. Try places like Royal Berkshire Fishery, New Farm Fishery and Pondwood Fishery. You will find that at places like these you are more likely to catch a carp than any other fish. I have most luck with the marine hallibut pellets they really seem to go for them, Good luck. |

| | The Best Recipe for Carp ~ When you catch them.
Carp Ta-Ta
Clean the guts out of the Carp and descale, keep head on.
Get some Aluminum foil and spread a large pieces to cover the whole fish.
Sprinkle some Salt , now just a little
Some pepper, sprinkle lightly
Slice a Lemon in thin slices and set around the carp.
use about a 1/2 teaspoon of Lemon Herb spice.
Now you gently wrap the carp up in the foil but make sure it is neat. Yet very tight - You want to seal in the flavor.....
When your finished hold the fish in both hands and say "Ta-Ta" and toss in trash. |

| | Use a HP(high protein) bait. You can get them at most tackle shops. The best results contain casein(milk protein) and vitamin
B complex.From yeast.In water it's soluble.Some people prepare HP with water.I use 6 eggs enough for 10oz.The best
are the ones with soya, wheatgerm, flour, casein, yeast mixture.
After you mix the protein and eggs(or water)to a firm paste, roll
into balls and boil for a minute or so.You get a bait with a skin
which keeps unwanted fish away.Add a smell or 2.Flavour
with a soup stock or gravy mix.Put them in the freezer and take them in a vacuum flask.Hook them by threading the line through the hard bait with a baiting needle.Tie the hook on and draw it back into the bait. The bait is about an oz so no
other weight's needed.Once rested on the bottom the bait softens and the hook is set. |

| | Its all about location. spend more of your time locating the fish. You wont catch what is'nt there.
Stick to one good quality freezer bait
Get to the water early to spot fish , Remember tackle shops are there to sell bait, if the fish are there and feeding they will eat anything( pigs with fins)
spend more of your time looking for fish, stop buying the magazines , us effective uncomplicated rigs
Take a break and go catch on a comercial carp fihery , just to keep your sanity |
