if you are a determined fisherman try this
go to that park and at night throw worms and liver and just anything that smells horrible and dogfood and just feed them and go to the store and buy some cannes catfood, worms, chicken liver, etc and some old lady stockings fill the stockings with all of that stuff and put it on a bif hook if your fishing for monsters and just let it sit!
if your just fishing for medium ones get a treble hooh and a 3 ounce wait and worms on the hook and keep your line tight and wait
and if you just want some excitement catch a sunfish ,bluegill,or any small fish and cut it three times on each of its sides put the hook thrue it a few times and just cast out keep your line tight and waitt i hope this helps

no doubt winter is tough for catching cats.......but i have caught some of my biggest at the start of winter.....i belive the best bait for catfish is makeral or RAW UN COOKED shrimp.....it stays on your hook so you can cast it far....and the scent is very powerful.....lets it sit for about 45 mins and if u dont catch anything re bait and cast in a differnt spot...........GOOD LUCK

use bait that really smells, like a piece of chicken or frozen shrimp, ive even heard cheese works really good. i use worms and i catch pretty big catfish, about 1 foot. also diving lures work really well. they have a big lip on them so when you cast them out , they stay on top of the water. then when you reel in, it dives down from the lip and they have ones that can go deep. i would get one that can go probably 6-8 feet

hey man, bottom fishing is the best way and to me the most fun way to fish for the ol kitty kitty fish. tie a trebble hook to a 4-6"runner line and tie on a 2-3 ounce weight to the bottom of your line. tie on the runner line to the main line about 1 foot above the weight . what that will do is allow your weight to sink into the mud but it will anchor down your bait and let the bait stay above the mud instead of sinking into the mud. on the trebble hook, hook you a cold chicken liver. with the livers cold, they dont fall apart as easily and the trebble hook will allow you to hook the liver in more places so there is less chance for the liver to fall off when casting. you can put you a bobber on your line but i like to let the line and the rod tip to tell me the story. you will get all kinds of answers about popular stink baits and using sunfish for baits but why go to all that extreme when you dont have to. when the cats are in 10 foot water they are in dark water. they will not be able to see live bait flopping around and live baits will not give off a strong odor that cats can pick up on and then there are the stink baits. they work alright but check out the price of stink bait and then look at a cup of chicken livers...yea chicken livers are cheeper. dont get me wrong i am not saying that live baits and stink baits dont work...they do but livers are easier, cheeper, works better, and when you go fishing you are there to relax not work trying to catch bait...well that is why i go, to relax. man i hope that helps you out a little bit, good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

The first answer is quite correct. Be patient in the winter months as the cats slow down like all fish so casting around to try to find them is best. Also as it is cold it gives you something to do.
