What species of Bumblebee? That name is pretty all encompassing, referring to a species of African Synodontis, South American Bumblebees, and Asian Bumblebees. All of those species tend to hide quite a bit, so if you want a fish you can see, I would avoid them. Cories are not nearly as shy as the Bumblebees and are far more entertaining, so I would suggest a group of about 7 Cories. Bullheads are native to the U.S. and will require slightly cooler water than the other species and also reach an impressive size, too large for a 55 gallon tank.

If it is a empty tank, I personally would get corydoras. Many to choose from:

green
emerald green
spotted
false jullii
albino
panda

As for bumblebee catfish, there is one sold in petstores named South American Bumblebee catfish. I rather have these than cories, if you have the tank size. And for a 55, you have ample size, but be wary on Asian Bumblebee Catfish, these get considerably bigger.

Here is a link for the South American BB Catfish.
