Default Can I get some suggestions on bait if I'm fishing in a man made cana that

contains bluegill, bass, catfish.... and trout? I know nothing about fishing but me and my husband are moving into a house that is located in a subdivision that has stocked, man made canals. We have a little peer off our house. Someone suggested I start feeding them fish food for a little while then start fishing. Can you suggest some food to feed them and also any bait/tackle suggestions? It's just catch and release but I thought I would take advantage of the peacefullness of fishing.

I can't recommend any good fish food, but you can find a good variety at an aquatic store or somewhere like Bass Pro Shop. As far as bait, I always recommend using live bait. Worms and crickets are the best for what you described, especially if you're just sport fishing. It's their natural diet, not some fluorescent pink and purple piece of plastic.

If you a new-b when it comes to fishing, than i would recommend a a bobber and worm, can't go wrong with that, you can get any thing as from bass, bream, and cats with 'em =]
Use god 'ol dog food to feed them.

```good catchin```
Nightcrawlers are the ferfect beginner bait. Just get a simple Zebco33 rod/reel combo to start with. Just put the worm on the hook, cast, and wait (note: this can be the most relaxing part). As you start to catch a few notice what time of day, depth of the bobber, and temperature. You can keep track of this in a notebook and improve your catch rate when you are on the water. Another suggestion, if I may, please catch and release. By letting them go they will be there next time too!
