Default Ummm do you think its possible to keep a bullhead catfish in a 10 gallon tank? I...

...want a whiskered fish? Well i want to know if i found them in a petstore which prob would be rare...but still...i want a fish that would do fine by itself in a 10gallon tank with all equipment...and maybe another two fish in there? idk or dont care...just like bigger fish more of fish with whiskers....like predatory fish. I dont own one yet!!! if thats what you think i do own the tank and i do have the equipment! i have a good filter which is ment for like a 30-50gallon tank just to make sure it doesnt get dirty in allooooong time. but i will make some water changes... i want a fish that isnt overly messy i do like green spotted puffers but idk if i could keep em in a 10 gall...alone

LOL. along with what SOOP NAZI AND ANUBUS SAID yes any bullheaad catfish is way too big for that tank. but if u like whiskeers soo much try some glass cats and cory cats, and maybe a few loaches. they have whiskers for ya and most of them wont exceed 5 inches. get a small group of those uand u will be set.
puffer wise, honestly i would wait if i were u and do a little more research on the puffers. they require more maintenance than u want to do and require specific water conditions as well.
i would get
3cory cats
3 glass cats
and 3 yoyo loaches NO more and not at the same time unless ur tank is fully cycled.
the corys, glass cats, and loaches, are passive fish but they have whiskers and they will do fine in ur tank.
if u want to get aggressive fish. i would strongly suggest getting a BIGGER TANK. say 60g++++
have fun u gotta lotta thinkin to do. lol

Well, no, you CANT keep large fish in a ten gallon! ESPECIALLY CATFISH! They get very big! It doesnt matter how clean your water is, its a size issue at that point. Would you leave a large dog locked in a kennel for its whole life?

If you like the dwarf puffers, go for them. Actually, what you have is perfect! Even though they are small, puffers are very aggressive, and they will kill any other fish besides other puffers. So you should only keep them with other puffers.

Also, they can be a little messy, so having a filter designed for a large tank is a good idea for them.

I would recomend puffers. Get a nice school of 8 or so. It would be cool.

NO CATFISH! BULLHEADS ESPECIALLY! They can get over 2 feet! Most catfish species (pangasius, feathered fin, silter tipped shark, etc...) get between 12-24" and bigger! That's longer than you tank!! (Which is 18 inches lon)

Only until it's about 3-4 inches. I don't know that you realize this is a fish that will weigh a few feet in length as an adult (though some species will be a bit smaller), and you should really be looking at a tank with at least a couple hundred gallons of water. If you want something with whiskers, try Cories ( http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/884/35009627.JPG ) or Dwarf Chain Loaches ( http://lh3.ggpht.com/_ECm-8VLXdBI/RVo5uunOABI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/6rf0EmrrfzI/PICT7672.JPG ), though neither are predatory.

the truth is most of the predatory catfish species that stores sell get too large to keep, especially in a 10 gallon tank. in fact, most all predatory fish will outgrow any tank unless you have atleast a 55-75 gallon. though if you want a wiskered fish that will actually fit in your small tank i suggest a upside down catfish, a corydoras catfish, or a glass catfish.
