Unfortunately yes, it is a bottom feeder. It lives on the dead and decaying fish, leaves, and grasses that are on the bottom of lakes, ponds, creeks or rivers. This tasty fish has had a bad rap ever since I was young, you don't hear people talking trash about crabs or lobsters do you?, no just the humble catfish. It can be a bottom feeder all it wants to be, I'll always call it delicious.

Don't blame her. I won't either and it's because the majority of their diet is waste. Does she eat other bottom feeders and shellfish? Ever want to tease her, look up the habitat of some she does eat.

Well I know I won't eat catfish because I had one in my aquarium and all he ate was the other fish's poop. Send your wife over, I'll make her some enchiladas and a pitcher of margaritas. You eat your catfish...blleecchh!

most catfish is farm raised, so they just feed on whatever is given to them. Farm raised catfish aren't bottom feeders in the true sense of the word, but even the wild ones probably taste as good, or better, than the farm raised ones.
