Catfish are pretty much everywhere in a lake, but primary love brush cover adjacent to deep spots.
As for the crappie, we are near their spwaning so they will be moving around the banks just off the shallows towrds the deep pockets. If you find a bed, you can hit the honey hole I call it.
The best bait for Crappie is minnows or a small 9/32 jig creamy color white like a off beige in color or green with silver sparkles.
Cra[[ie tend to hit the birghter of them, but minnows works great.
Take you a small hook and tie it on and then about 1 1/2 ft up your line attache a large splitshot. then get you an adjustable bobber I prfer the long stick kind myself.
Start ooff about 5 ft in depth and then locate them and go deeper to 6 or 7 ft in depth and troll if your in a boat and let your line out about 25 feet and drag that bobber on the surface. If there is Crappie there they will hit it I gurantee it.
I have been fishing for Crappie just over ten years now.
I love them. I have a 4 lb Black Crappie mounted on my wall 18 inches long. I was just shy of the Georgia State Record. |
