Which is the best spot to fish??

hi

I am kinda new to sea fishing in England so I am wandering where is the best spot to go for surf or jetty fishing...I am on holiday in London and I am interested to catch Cod and Skate or any other kind of fishes that can make the reel scream big grin ... I made a trip to Admiralty Pier in Dover last dec, did'nt catch any fish but it's good experience nevertheless fishing in Winter..

So recommendations guys??
