What kind of fish do you think this was? (deep sea fishing with my dad)? We were deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico off of the Panama City shore line.
We'd all been pretty much catching the same kind of fish, (except for some guy on the south side of the boat who caught some thing as long as his arm and as big around as a CD).....
Then my dad pulled up a fish that cause all the workers on the boat to come running, yelling "DON'T TOUCH THAT FISH"
It was a bright, fluorescent yellow fish. Very thin, but round (like a discus). It had red fins. There was a bright blue on the fish somewhere... I think it was the eyes but I can't be sure.
On of the boat's workers used a really long hook to just cut my dad's line before he reeled the fish into the boat... explaining that the scales on the fish were poisonous and one little poke from a scale could knock-out a man and a handful would kill him.
What in the world could this be?

It was definitely NOT a lionsfish. It was sort of flat, like a flounder and a solid flourescent yellow. No stripes.
it was also not a mahimahi (the "dolphin" you mention) those are not poisonous.
This has been driving me crazy since the day I saw it 2 years ago. |
