Default new fish staying on the bottom of the tank?

we bought a small silver/white coldwater fish (think it is a type of goldfish) 4 days ago and put in in with other fish. It is now lying on the bottom of the tank and not breathing very well. I have taken it out of the tank in case it has a disease. Any ideas if I can save it, or will it die, and what may have caused it. Thanks. All the other fish are fine
