Default Are fish affected by loud music/musical instruments?

Hi,

As my ID suggests, I'm a sax player. I have to practice about 6 hours a day. I want a pet, but as I'm renting its not fair to get a cat or dog then move after a year.

So I am considering getting fish. however their tank/bowl would be in the same room that I practice in (for 5 - 6 hours a day), saxophone is loud (usually carries through closed windows and down the street) and I'm just wondering if anyone knows how much my instrument playing would affect the fish, if at all! I don't want to distress them, but I do really want a pet!!

Any ideas on whether they'd be affected or not?

Many thanks!

yup...unless you get a betta......a betta is your best friend in any situation.

they can live almost anywhere. if you get a betta you can play the sax and invite friends over to play without a problem..

They certainly would be, the vibrations going through the water would cause them great stress and shorten their lives by a huge amount.

I'm a musician too, violinist, and i really can't see why you HAVE to practice SIX HOURS A DAY!

a wind instrument, for 6 hours, goodness you'll be fainting from lack of oxygen by the end of that!

lol

hope this helps =]
