Christians...why is it a fish?

The Jesus fixtures that Christians put on their car, why is it a fish? What is the symbolism? I have heard different theories, except the Christian one. thanx

That link is quite interesting. It is a form of a Greek symbol dating back to the early Christian Church.

Also, I know Jesus said to his disciples who were also fishermen: 'I will make you fishers of men.'. And they followed him.

I am sure there the basic meaning differs a bit from the early Christians to the modern ones.

Jesus called some of his disciples, such as Andrew, who were fishermen, to be "fishers of men." Also, the fish symbol comes from the ichthus, which is the symbol used by clandestine church members when the Roman Empire made Christianity illegal.
