Generally the trout season tends to finish at this time of year even in Texas, however it all depends on what species you are targeting check this out it may be of help

It would depend on what type of species you are fishing for and what method you are using. This time of year bass, perch, and catfish can be easily caught. For your location perch should be hitting well on live bait fished at between 1 to 5 foot. If you are not sure how deep they are hitting at then I would suggest seting out a couple dozen yo-yos. Just by the sheer amount of hooks you have in the water, you will be able to quickly tell what species is hitting the best. Be sure to check your local fishing regulations before setting out yo-yos. More about yo-yo regulations can be found here:http://yo-yo.weebly.com/

I live in Arkansasclose to La. border. This time of year is really good for crappie and bass. For crappie fish the edges of creek channels deep holes and humps. The same for bass. If you have several warm days in a row, you can even catch bass on topwater. Last Saturday my neighbor found bass working a school of shad and he caught a 9lb 4 oz and 6 more over 4 lbs

go for the trout, they love the cold, some idiot said that trout season is ending....it has just started...it goes from around november when it gets cold until march/april. you can even catch some in the summer. Use power bait, chartreuse or rainbow. or use panther martin, rooster tail, and kastmaster lures.

We fish ON the lakes this time of year and it's called ice fishing. Yes, early ice is VERY good and I caught 5 walleye last night in less than 3 hours. My buddy caught an 8 1/2 pounder, which we immediately released after measuring. It was a little over 27 1/2".
