I would reccommend a betta fish, but even that kind of fish requires a lot of research and weeks of preparation. Unless you are willing to spend over 100 dollars on a tank and then cycle it for six weeks, I'd suggest a screensaver. Fish are living things, just like a dog or a cat. You can't just buy them on an impulse and expect them to live happily.

Try a Beta - they're not expensive, are pretty and you just keep 1 at a time. You should be able to get one at WalMart.

A betta would be perfect. Very easy to keep. A five gallon tank, gentle filter, and 25 watt heater is all you need to keep them happy and healthy for many years! And you can have fun with however you decorate the tank! They are easy to find, and come in a vast array of colors and tail types.

And PEOPLE its spelled BETTA b-e-t-t-a! The species is BETTA SPLENDENS. And heck, it isn't even pronounced "bey-tuh" as most people say, but "bet-uh".

Get a betta. They are easy, and they can be really pretty colors! The last betta I had was like grey, light blue, and light purple! I wish I took a picture of it, because it was really pretty. Also, they live for a really long time if you take care of it properly. My sister did, and it lived for two years! And they are really cheap, you can get one at the pet store for like only $5 or $6. Just if you get more than one, don't put them in the same tank; they'll eat each other!
