Default Is it okay to use broken glass instead of traditional gravel in a fish aquarium?

A local glass company dumps their broken glass onto a section of their property and the community has always taken whatever they have wanted.

I am setting up a new fish aquarium, and thought it would make a beautiful bottom cover instead of the traditional gravel you buy at the store.

Do you think it will be safe? I intend to sift out the tiny tiny pieces, but otherwise, the size of the broken glass pieces will be around the size of the traditional gravel. Maybe some will be a tad smaller.

Other than that, I know how to set up an aquarium - so I don't need that kind of advice, just to be clear and keep you from wasting your time giving those types of answers.

Many thanks for your help!
