Default How do you cure fish ick?

my 7 fish were happy and healthy until their bodies became cloudy and spotted. I made the terrible mistake of not doing anything about it, and so they all died within days of the 1st spotting. I later learned that it was called "ick". I have 3 chiclids now and I dont want this to happen agian. does anyone know how to cure it?
