I'm going on vacation, what should I do for my betta fish? I have a betta fish in a one gallon tank with an undergravel filter here with me at college. My spring break is next week, and I think it will be easier both on me and on the fish to leave him here. It will be exactly one week; I've heard that bettas can go up to 2 weeks without food. I won't be able to have someone feed him for me because nobody will be here.
My question is if there is anything I should do this week to make next week (without food) easier. I usually feed him 2 pellets twice each day (4 pellets a day). Should I slightly increase his food this week or will that make next week more of a shock. I plan on doing a partial water change the day I leave and the day I get back also.
I've heard those week-long vacation feeders don't work and mess up the water, so I'm going to stay away from those. |
