Default Betta emergancy please answer!!! I REALLY NEED HELP WITH MY BETTA FISH!!!?

Ok, so my betta eats freeze-dried bloodworms, right? Well, I heard that they could be given the inside of a pea for a treat. So I cut a small chunk out of the inside of a pea and plopped it in his tank he caught it in his mouth and he couldn't swallow it!! He was spazzing all over his tank and choking on it! he finnally swallowed it but he kept on like gasping and swallowing. Now he's just laying at the bottom of the tank... please help me I know he's not dead right now but he can't die!!!
thank you for answering, yeah he was probably sort of recovering from his...cough cough.... episode. He's swimming around a bit more now.
yaaay! he (seems to be) fully recovered! he's flaring, eating fdbloodworms, nd his colors great. thanksalot, that defnately won't happen again!

It sounds as if your beta is in shock. My beta went into shock the first night I had him because the water was too cold. He'll probably be all right, betas are very hardy, and within a while (between a few hours and a day) he'll be swimming around again. I'm afraid there's really not much you can do at the moment, though.

The pea should be cooked and mashed up not just a piece cut off for him.

he should be fine, you should have cut it in a smaller bits, but we all make mistakes and we learn from them, he could be resting from the spaz attack

Ho Phoebs-just make sure anything you give him in future is diced into 'bite sized' chunks! Glad he's ok.

Bettas are not easy to kill mine survived a lot thankfully. But with things like this the other two are right he'll be ok just be careful when you give him treats and stuff. Tiny pieces are all they can handle. If you ever see him choking dont' be afraid to try and get it out. I watched my mom do it twice with her fish because they got a rock stuck. One she turned upside down like a pepper shaker and actually knocked the rock out by smaking it on the back end. Another she lectured for 20 minutes as she held him in the tank prying the rock out of his mouth. So no worries fish do this sort of thing. You just need to be careful with them.
