How should I set up a tank for new baby fish?

They are sailfin mollies and they were born this morning. I have an extra 5 gal. tank with a heater and a small filter, but no canopy or light. How should I set up the tank for the babies? Should I put in any gravel or ornaments? How can I protect them from the filter? What should I do for light in the tank?

Gravel and plants are cool. That'll culture the bacteria but more importantly you want plants for them to hide in if you can. You will also have to buy special food for them from the local fish store. When they are a few weeks older you can feed them brine too.
Try to keep water flow down to a minimum too.

what you should do is get a light for them.. but to keep them away from the filter, just put mesh over it so it can still work but they cant get in
