my angel fish is dying. what is the most humane thing to do?

he has big red eyes (popeye)... we've been treating the tank for a couple days now with broad spectrum antibiotic (minocycline @ 30mg / 28 gallon tank), and he has only worsened. i actually watched him go from reasonable to floating upside down and gasping with his gills in the last 1/2 hour. i have decided to separate him from the other fish, because he sinks to the bottom and we have lace cats and i'm worried they are going to "scavenge" him.

anyway, this fish is clearly in its last minutes. what is the most humane thing to do?

I had a fish with tb before...impossible to save her and she only got worse and worse. I took her out and put her into a bag of water with a drop of clove oil added to it. Once she had gone to sleep (from the clove oil) I put her in the freezer. Probably the freezer alone would have been enough, but I didn't know if she would feel it getting cold and start to worry.

I had a beta that was dying, so I placed him on a hard surface and hit him with a hammer. As long as you do it hard, he'll die with the first hit. My beta never knew what hit him. Just make sure you don't hit his tail or the back part of his body. That'll just put him in pain.
