there are at least 1500 known species of reef safe fish. some are rare and others are regularly available through pet/fish suppliers. if you are even considering setting up a reef tank you will want to do a LOT of research. but as a general rule, fish like tangs (surgeonfish), damsels and clownfish, wrasses, blennies, chromis, dragonettes, rabbitfishes, and some varieties of angelfish are common popular choices. however, all fishes personalities and specific health and feeding requirements vary and research will be essential when introducing new specimens. you will want to start by introducing the less territorial, less dominant species and once they are established you can slowly introduce more aggressive species with the most aggressive species of the bunch being added last. |
