I recently asked a question of wheather or not large brown trout would take a rapalla fished with a wire trace. All answers said no. Now i'm wondering if for say a 6lb+ wild trout an eight pound fluorocarbon leader would be too much as i recently lost one which instantly snapped a 4lb leader on low drag.
By the way i'm specifically meaning large trout as this monster one i lost was in a small river pool and the waters are too low for it to escape so i'm going after it this weekend and am wondering what lines i should use bearing in mind i think it has quite sharp teeth.(yes, i'm sure it's not a pike)
Yes you could catch a large brown trout on a 8lb fluorocarbon leader, the line will not snap if you keep a relatively loose drag, make sure you don't horse them in other wise the line will snap or come out of the fishes mouth, play the fish a little, plays it's game, if he goes left you go left and so on. Hope this helps =)
